One of the largest employers, Indian Railways is looking ahead for bold upgrades such as harnessing clean energy from renewable sources such as solar and wind. It has also expressed its interest to imbibe nuclear power in order to achieve Net Zero by 2030.
8th edition of the Rail India Conference & Expo saw participation from distinguished dignitaries and delegates from railways, government and private sector including:

Honourable Guest of Honour, Mr Rupesh Kohli, Executive Director - Testing, Research Designs and Standards Organization, in his Research Insight Address, spoke about the RDSO's research priorities and their impact, insight into the testing procedures and quality control, adoption of new technologies to enhance efficiency, speed, and infrastructure and emerging trends and potential breakthroughs in railway technology.
Honourable Guest of Honour, Mr Rajeev Singh Thakur, IAS, Adviser, NITI Aayog delivered Policy Framework Address. He enlightened about key policy initiatives and reforms aimed at transforming Indian Railways, how policies are designed to attract investment, role of policy to promote and adopt new technologies and Aligning policy frameworks and the transition to a greener railway system.
Honourable Guest of Honour, Dr Jaideep Gupta, Additional Member- Railway Electrification, Railway Board delivered Leadership Keynote Address. His presentation highlighted significant topics such as electrification for modernizing Indian Railways, achieving sustainability goals, Electrification progress of projects, Innovations in electrification technologies, role of electrification in decarbonizing rail transport and policy framework driving electrification initiatives.

In a bid to take Indian Railways into a new era, the conference intrigued everyone in discussions, presentations and deliberations on various topics such as station redevelopment to high-speed corridors; solar, wind, and green technologies for railways; security, surveillance technologies and practices for accident prevention; shaping the future of rail travel in India; infrastructure, logistics, and the digital future; scaling up, sustainability, and smart integration for urban mobility.
