Honourable Guest of Honour, Shri Arvind Kumar, Director Refineries, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd stated: “Times are changing and we are in a phase of transition. Refineries have become more flexible, adapting to demand. If demand goes flat, they divert diesel supplies into other streams. Today’s refineries need to be reliable, green and sustainable. Biofuels have entered the picture and with increasing concerns around emissions, refineries are also supporting ethanol. Renewable energy will help refineries cut costs. Indian Oil is exploring every possible area to reduce emissions. India has seen over an 88% increase in its dependency on imported crude oil to meet domestic needs. However, our energy mix includes fossil fuels, renewables, and other sources. For at least the next decade, we’ll need to rely on fossil fuels. That said, expanding the gas ecosystem will help us lower emissions. We’re committed to being a future-ready organization.”

The Summit promises to offer vital insights not just on refinery capacity enhancements, but also on the growing role of renewable energy adoption, green hydrogen initiatives and other cleaner energy pathways being explored by Indian refineries.

Mr Raj Manek, Executive Director and Board Member, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd, expressed: “I am happy to see that India Refining Summit 2025 offers a great platform to discuss the future oil and gas downstream industry which is upgrading its prowess for boosting exports by building capacities in India along with its commitment to decarbonisation. While the world is moving towards sustainability, refineries are also falling in line with sourcing clean power and utilizing waste for powering its energy needs. I strongly believe the expertise shared hold immense value to develop the green future.”

“Today the times are changing and we are in transition. The refineries have become flexible in tune with demand. If the demand goes flat, they divert diesel into different stream. Refineries today have to be reliable, green and sustainable. Bio-fuel has also come into picture, then there are emissions, refineries are standing up for ethanol as well. The renewable energy will help refineries could cut down on cost. Indian oil is exploring all the possible areas where we can reduce our emissions. India saw a more than 88 per cent increase in its dependency on imported crude oil to meet its domestic consumption needs. However, the energy mix India has comprised fossil fuels, renewables and others. For atleast a decade, we will have to be dependent on fossil fuels.

We need to increase the gas ecosystem which will reduce on emissions. We will be future ready organization always.
