The most successful Mumbai edition in the series: LED Expo Mumbai 2022 makes a blazing comeback

Surrounded with an endless range of LED lighting innovations and products, LED Expo Mumbai 2022 culminated into a successful edition with extraordinary response from the industry. Surpassing the estimates of its pre-pandemic Mumbai editions, the trade fair registered a record-breaking footfall of 12,934 visitors converging from all the states of India.

The 23rd edition of LED Expo turned out to be a successful and dynamic business platform displaying a wide variety of ‘Make-in-India’ LED products, components and applications. Bringing 179 exhibitors and over 1,000 products on display, LED Expo Mumbai 2022 generated a massive footfall of 12,934 visitors from 21 countries and 29 Indian states. Moreover, the trade fair hosted over 50% of new entrants reinforcing the Indian industry’s focus to strengthen domestic collaborations and capture the market share.

The trade fair displayed an extensive range of energy-efficient LED lighting systems and products, including smart lighting & IoT controls, semi-conductors, solar-powered LED lighting products and solutions, components, accessories and raw materials, manufacturing equipment, machinery and allied products, drivers and power supply, as well as signage and display products. 

After interacting with exhibitors and local businesses on the show floor, Shri Dinesh Waghmare, IAS, Hon’ble Principal Secretary, Energy Department – Government of Maharashtra shared: “It was great to meet several MSMEs among the exhibitors who are contributing to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ and interact with them. Clean and green energy is the future. With the adoption of LED, there will be a huge saving in energy consumption in Maharashtra up to 572 megawatts and 2.5 million tonnes of carbon emissions will also be reduced.”

Over its three business days, LED Expo Mumbai 2022 hosted top brands, including Cygnus Lighting, Geep Industries, LC Tech LLP, Lemonlite, Litomatic, Nirvana Lighting Pvt Ltd, Power Palazzo, Pride Lighting Pvt Ltd, Semiconic and Smartlight (Lightshop) under its roof.

Witnessing an incredible response from business visitors, Mr Kishore Agarwal, Director, Cygnus Lighting LLP, shared: “It has been a fantastic platform for us. Lots of visitors have attended this exhibition and we definitely received good footfalls. LED Expo has proven extremely beneficial for both manufacturers and buyers who have participated this year.”

One of the major brands exhibiting at LED Expo, Power Pallazo Pvt Ltd’s Director, Mr Raj Shah, also shared: “We have been in the lighting industry for more than 24 years. LED Expo has given us a platform to build an extended customer base and we would like to thank the Messe Frankfurt India team for giving us a wonderful opportunity and platform to showcase our complete range of semi-conductors, lighting, and smart home solutions. We would certainly like to participate again.”

Moreover, LED Expo Mumbai 2022 hosted lighting designers from the ‘Women in Lighting’ association who converged at the trade fair to witness the latest designer luminaires. After exploring the show floor, the association’s ambassador, Ar Surabhi Jindal, Founder & Principal Lighting Designer, Da Light Hub Lighting Design & Consultancy, stated: “The future of the LED industry is really promising. Technological advancements in LED have helped lighting designers focus on human-centric lighting and increasing productivity. LED Expo is a great platform to witness core components, luminaires, and other elements covering the LED industry. I congratulate Messe Frankfurt India for organising such a great exhibition.”

LED Expo drew visitors from every Indian state, including premier business visitors such as lighting expert and industry veteran, Mr Anil Valia, Director, Lighting Systems Consultant, who stated: “It is great to be back again at LED Expo. According to my experience, I feel that this is the best exhibition for the industry. I have seen numerous products spanning from panel lighting to advanced solar and smart lighting technologies. All range and types of products were presented at this exhibition.”

Along with the key delegation of lighting designers, the trade fair garnered support and presence from Ministries, government departments and top industry associations, in conjunction with strong support from the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Ministry of Energy, New and Renewable Energy Maharashtra (MAHAURJA), Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST), Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), Indian Building Congress (IBC) and Luminaries Accessories Components Manufacturers’ Association (LACMA).

Commenting on the partnership with Messe Frankfurt India for Light + LED Expo’s launch edition in Delhi, Mr Bhavesh Doshi, Founder – Entelechy Group of companies and Director – KNX Association India, stated: “It was a great experience to be a part of LED Expo Mumbai and meet our colleagues from the lighting industry.
