  • Mr Biju John, Chief Technology Officer, iTvis Technology Pvt Ltd
  • Mr Raj Manek, Executive Director & Board Member, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holdings Ltd

Preserving the radiance of Diwali and highlighting India’s growing expertise in lighting production, the exhibition which hosts 240 exhibitors, is furnished with over 1,000 lighting products, technologies and solutions, ranging from finished products and accessories, component and raw materials, smart lighting systems and solar lights, to LED manufacturing equipment and machinery.

Explaining the role of Light + LED Expo India in nurturing the domestic lighting sector, Mr Raj Manek, Executive Director and Board Member, Messe Frankfurt Asia, stated: “The application areas of lighting have grown significantly over the years. LED lights and the invention of smart and energy-efficient lighting systems as a whole have become an integral part of modern infrastructure. Through an expansive range of product displays, Light + LED Expo India 2022 aims to meet the growing demand for both innovative lighting products as well as “need-of-the-hour” lighting technologies that will strengthen India’s domestic supply chain.”

Further elaborating the prominence of the lighting exhibition, Mr Shyam Sujan, Secretary General, Electric Lamp and Component Manufacturers Association of India (ELCOMA), stated: “Light + LED Expo India has created a platform for the Indian Lighting Industry to network with Indian stakeholders and global visitors, for business development and joint partnerships. It also offers a great opportunity for business visitors to witness futuristic lighting technologies.”

Mr Sujan also gauged the ongoing progress of the Indian lighting sector, as he added: “Energy efficiency in Indian households has touched 88 per cent with LED bulbs lighting up homes due to affordable government schemes UJALA, and very shortly almost 100% lighting will convert to LED Lighting. India has also adapted to new technologies in all applications. With 100 smart cities underway, wireless technology will be extensively used.”

The push for localisation by the Indian government has given a huge impetus to the local lighting manufacturers to upscale their technological resources and capabilities. The issuance of PLI Schemes by DPIIT (LED light components) and MEITY (Semiconductors) is a step towards the ascension of Indian lighting industry into an independent lighting sector and a global export hub.

In alignment with India’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” mission, Light + LED Expo India 2022 has displayed a strong line-up of “Made in India” products, technologies and solutions. At the same time, it showcases the versatility of foreign lighting technologies by hosting international manufacturers from several countries.

The b2b exhibition is being supported by Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and chief industry associations including Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), The Energy Resources Institute (TERI), Luminaires Accessories Components Manufacturers Association (LACMA) and Indian Buildings Congress (IBC).

Set to conclude on 5 November, Light + LED Expo India will continue to draw buyers, suppliers and lighting manufacturers together to network and make strong business connections throughout its remaining two-days.
